NEWS FROM MILTON LILBOURNE, 1848-1909

Articles from 1858 & 1859

The Marlborough Times, 5th August 1858:
Deaths: On the 24th ult., at Milton, Mr EDMUND SOMERSET, aged 73 years.

The Marlborough Times, 10th December 1859:
A fire broke out on Sunday evening last at the residence of Mr GUY WARWICK, farmer. It was fortunately discovered before the flames had gained ascendancy, and by the prompt assistance of Mr WARWICK'S neighbours, it was subdued. The fire took place at the rear of the house in the thatch, and we are sorry to hear it is supposed to be the act of an incendiary. A 20 reward is offered for the discovery of the offender.
